Carrick Wines, Bannockburn Central Otago New Zealand

Carrick is one of the Central Otago originals, producing quality Pinot Noir since the late 1990s. Owners Tony and Alison Cleland took over in 2021, with winemaking now under the guidance of experienced vigneron Rosie Menzies. Since travelling the globe, working with some of the world’s finest producers in Italy, France and the USA, Rosie has settled back in her native New Zealand. She is producing exceptional wines that continue Carrick’s legacy, while adhering to organic principles.

At Carrick, it’s all about quality! With minimal intervention, the wines are pure, fresh and exciting examples of what Central Otago is best known for: Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.

Carrick vineyard was planted in 1994 and takes its name from the stunning Carrick Range which backdrops the property. Today the vines are Certified Organic through Biogro NZ, and the business is Certified sustainable by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.

Carrick’s vineyard, winery, and restaurant is situated on Cairnmuir Road in Bannockburn, a small subregion of Central Otago stretching along the southern side of the Kawarau River. All the wines are produced from the 23.5 ha vineyard site surrounding the winery. The grapes are all hand-picked, certified organic, and made with 100% indigenous yeast with minimal winery additions.

Q Wine Reviews

“Lovely juicy dark berry fruit plus canned plums. There are flashes of blackberries, too, which are fanned by dried thyme a hint of sage. With a sleek delivery, it is terrifically approachable. Good times come easy with wines like these. Tapas and wine bar kinda feels. Drink to five years.”
