Hailing originally from Canada, Dr Wes Pearson is a former snowboarder turned winemaker, who brought his passion for adventure and craftsmanship to McLaren Vale. Wes honed his skills in Canada’s Okanagan Valley and Bordeaux in France before settling in South Australia. At Juxtaposed Wines, Wes combines his scientific background as a Senior Research Scientist at the Australian Wine Research Institute with his inspired and thoughtful approach to winemaking. The results are extraordinary.

Wes is deeply committed to terroir-driven wines, believing that great wines should reflect the unique characteristics of their vineyards. He’s all about minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the natural qualities of the grapes and their environment to shine. Juxtaposed showcases the diversity of McLaren Vale through varieties like Grenache, Shiraz, Fiano and Sangiovese. Grenache, in particular, is Wes’s favourite for its ability to express McLaren Vale terroir with unflinching clarity and honesty.
